Losing focus?

The Austin conference. The ACC class. The Texas Book Festival (which I was supposed to attend, but couldn’t). The sketch session. Trolling for agents. Reviewing the potential illustrator. Reading other blogs. Writing this one.

I’m having fun. But shouldn’t I be getting a little more children’s writing done?

  1. Basically, what’s happening is that you’re transitioning from being a writer to being a writer/author, which comes with a lot of competing time responsibilities.

My theory for the height of conference season–October-November and March-May–is that if I get some writing done, great. If not, I’m not going to beat myself up over it. Especially since I have to field who-knows-what incoming from my editors at any given moment.

    Um…yeah…what Cynthia said.

Sounds like lots of fun, no matter how you’re spending your time. I’ve decided my attitude about October-December is that any writing I get done is good. I have too many (non-writing) things competing for my attention this time of year.

That makes me feel a whole lot better, Cynthia and Kim — thank you. I’m breathing easier now.
